How wheat grass grows (stages)

Stage 1: soak wheat berries in water. (Day 1 and 2).

Stage 2: cover wheat with a damp cloth. (Day 3 and 4).

Stage 3: use a spray bottle to keep the wheat moist. (Day 5).

Stage 4:  wheat grass ‘blades’ begin to appear. (Days 8, 9 and 10).

Stage 5: Success – wheat grass at last. (Day 11).

Stage 6: A closer look at the roots. (Day 12).

Finally, wheat grass measuring 15cm. (Day 16)

Mini beasts / grass crowns

Wu, Mila, Lea, Callum and Andy volunteered to tell the school, during assembly, how we made crowns and how we have been growing wheat grass. Everyone in Year 2 looked fantastic with colourful and happy wheat grass crowns. Well done!

Spring has sprung

We made Spring wheat grass crowns for our school assembly on Friday, April 7th. We are learning about plants and other living things in science and we’re working on a project to grow wheat grass in our classroom. Hopefully it will be a success and we’ll be able to share photographs of the wheat grass soon.

Numeracy Outside the Classroom!

This week, Year 2 have been busy practising their Numeracy skills oustide the classroom. To help us count in 3s we made a human number line and we practised our number bonds by creating’ fact families’.

Inspiring Art

Year 2 enjoyed creating artistic sculptures using nature.  We enjoyed a trip to the local park, where we made more sculptures, inspired by British artist ‘Andy Goldsworthy’.dsc_0447dsc_0444
